![]() ![]() I have never experienced this under Vista SP2 32-bit, so, as hinted, it might be an issue specific to XP. Upon searching, I did locate a post from June 2019, by one of your compatriots: I recollect this as having been already discussed in this thread. I mean sometimes you have to have a bit of faith in other human beings. See? This is what happens when you actually test things.Ībout software origins, my XP has the kernel from the One Core API project, the HAL from the Russian mod, drivers for USB 3.0, ACPI, NVME support etc from another modding project that backported them from the Microsoft ones etc. Works like a charm, so I'm glad he tagged me and I was able to test it as I'll keep using it as my main build. So I downloaded it and tried to install it and guess what? It worked:Īnd just to let you see that it's an XP system: So version 8, which is NOT correct as I'm running version 5 on XP.Īnd although it's not the "latest and greatest", it is indeed newer than mine as mine was built on September 2020, while his was built on February 9th, 2021. If I try to download the latest 32bit version from here: Īnd VideoHelp states that the last supported version for XP is: If it's only GUI changes then the Lite version may still work.Īnd if I search for updates, it says that I'm on the latest version. I suppose it depends on what's been done to make the full version incompatible with XP. I wonder if that will still work on XP with future versions of MediaInfo.dll? That's very interesting, I wasn't aware of the "Lite" version of MediaInfo. P.S. Kindly avoid making another intervention "sui generis" (like that in quote), I will not respond to other unnecessary controversies. You have yours view which can be equally correct.īut I stay with my vision and you with yours. (It is an explicit acknowledgment of your worth).Įveryone has their own view of things in this world. So I'll try installing a later version of PotPlayer ONLY when it's available on the original website.īut I can recommend other MSFN members, after your discussion, ( you to remain responsible), to install other versions of PotPlayer from the VideoHelp website. Not even if you show me that the exe are identical. *** Install softwares only from the original websites. I will not violate my own safety rule that I have taught so many of my students at the university. Which was exactly the point of my post you were quick to dismiss the info I posted here, out of pure courtesy to my XP friends , without first verifying it yourself (and making me look "bad" along the way. Please reconsider these thoughts of yours: Water under the bridge here, thanks for your many and valuable contributions. You declined my plea to test for yourself for closure, can another kind soul that happens to use XP SP3 32-bit (SSE2) please check those builds above and verify they indeed install and work OK (so this issue could be put to rest.) ? (from memory I recall as being an avid PotPlayer enthusiast), would you oblige? VideoHelp being a third party provider, I did not want initially to post direct links to packages (Forum rule 1.b), but I have now done so above, for XP-members' convenience to the best of my knowledge, these are original/unaltered/official binaries being re-hosted (and the 21-02-09 builds not to be found on vendor's site). ).įTR, I didn't direct XP members to a random "videohelp" URL, but specifically to Which was exactly the point of my post you were quick to dismiss the info I posted here, out of pure courtesy to my XP friends, without first verifying it yourself (and making me look "bad" along the way. VideoHelp also host a link for the latest version: The GUI hasn't changed much over the years, it was initially developed as part of the Tools section of early-XP era K-Lite Codec Pack versions, that's how I was introduced to it and stuck with it ever since. Yes, the Explorer integration is its major asset! But, even beginning with my Windows XP era (2005-2009), what I use till now specifically for Explorer context menu is the, so called, LITE version of MediaInfo, which just comprises a minimalistic GUI (executable made by Atak_Snajpera, a doom9 developer) and the official MediaInfo.dll file (which can be updated independently of the GUI, by downloading the MediaInfo_DLL_xx.xx_Windows_i386_WithoutInstaller.7z package from MediaInfo author). It's incredibly useful if you do a lot of work with videos from many different sources, especially with its Explorer integration. ![]()
